This course explores the principles of colour theory as it applies to the fashion and cosmetic industry. Students will recognize colour variations in Hue, Value and Intensity and identify appropriately colour descriptors and codes as related to colour science. Students will learn how to compile an effective, professional and creative visual presentation manual. Correct colour terminology will be used to identify colour relationships and palettes. Students will learn the mechanics of be used to identify colour relationships and palettes. Students will also learn the mechanics of body proportions as related to trends and styles of dressing. Students will learn how to apply fashion trend and fits appropriately for all male and female body types in order to advise clients or apply styling skills during photo shoots.
REFLECTION
Guided group and individual work, is a large focus of this class. Over the course of the semester students prepare a Colour Manual which looks at Colour Theories and Analysis. Week after week students apply the concepts and material covered together to create their individual Colour Manual entries using Colour Aid paper, paint, and magazine tear sheets.
